Pastor Tunde Bakare delivered one of the most fiery speeches on the night of the All Progressives Congress (APC) convention at the Eagle Square, Abuja, declaring that he didn’t join the presidential race to step down for anybody.
Unlike a few of the aspirants who had announced their intention to withdraw from the presidential race in support of others, Bakare expressed confidence that he is the best man to become Nigeria’s next president.
Bakare had earlier demanded that a one-minute silence be observed by all at the convention in honour of Christian worshipers who were massacred in Owo, Ondo State last Sunday.
The New Diplomat projects that a former Governor of Lagos, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to become the standard-bearer of the APC in 2023 as vote counting continues. However, the fiery Lagos Pastor in his electrifying speech said he has all the leadership skill required in this modern era.
Here’s what Bakare said:
“I recall again, with nostalgic feelings, the very day APC was born in this same Eagle Square on February 6 2013. It was my privilege to move the motion for the merger of APC. I’m going to nurture this party to ensure that it becomes strong to ensure that it becomes great.
“Today, I’m offering myself to close the distant between the Nigerian reality and every Nigerian dream. By God’s grace on unlock power of public policy to accelerate the transformation of our nation. I will infuse our young people with a surge of hope for what is possible. I will roll my sleeves up and work to some Nigeria’s most intractable problem in order to build a cutting edge nation at the forefront of innovation.
“By the grace of God, the four pillars upon which our administration are peace without being economic progress, peace, progress, prosperity, and possibility. And someone may be asking me today, what is your experience in governance?. Experience people have brought us to where we have many of the experience people our budgets have introduced corruption to the system, it is time to raise a new generation, a new breed without greed and corruption. Men and women, boys and girls who choose to win by righteousness.
“Many of these contestants, time will tell when EFCC is after them. We do not need those experience we need a genius. A genius is a man who does the right thing the first time without precedent. I praise God for general buhari, president and everyone in leadership today that will take our nation forward with the modern experience with a genius. Many have gone left, right visiting the delegates inducing some of them with money. But we sat and we reached all the delegates without travelling anywhere but bulk SMS because we want a cutting edge nation that will be in the forefront of science and technology that will move our nation far away from relying just on oil to use this energy. This is why I’m here I’m stepping up by the grace of God upon yourself to be the 16th president of Nigeria My name is Tunde Bakare on vote for me and vote for the future of our nation thank you,” Bakare added.
