The current manager of Arsenal, Mikel Arteta has disclosed that the team could have scored six or seven goals and won the match after they staged a shocking comeback to draw 3-3 at West Ham in derby today.
It would be recalled that Arsenal during the match had conceded three times in the opening 32 minutes on Sunday before theĀ 3-3 comeback.
Arteta speaking with newsmen after the match said: ”Ā Arsenal could have scored six or seven goals and won the match.
In his words: “This game is going to give me a few nightmares because it is really difficult to stop some of the things we have been doing to hurt ourselves.
āThat is the level we can show, the other is top level and probably the best we play all season – we could have scored six or seven goals and won the game, but we cannot have two faces.
West Ham punished a sleepy Arsenal defence with Jesse Lingard, Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek putting them in complete control and set to go level on points with fourth-placed Chelsea.
But when Alexandre Lacazetteā shot deflected in off Soucek in the 38th minute, Arsenal came alive.
They laid siege to West Hamās goal for long periods of the second half and pulled back another goal as Craig Dawson scored into his own net just past the hour.
In a frenetic finale West Ham had chances to seal the points before Lacazetteās 82nd-minute header earned Arsenal what had looked like an unlikely share of the spoils.
West Ham stay in fifth place with 49 points from 29 games, two below Chelsea. Arsenal moved up a place into ninth spot before Aston Villaās clash with Tottenham later on Sunday.
