West Ham United have officially sacked Julen Lopetegui after just 22 games in charge.

The club said the decision to part ways with Lopetegui comes after a series of disappointing results, leaving the team in 14th place in the Premier League table.

In the statement, the club also highlighted that the first half of the 2024/25 season did not align with their ambitions, leading to this managerial change.

Lopetegui’s tenure, which began in the summer to replace David Moyes, was marked by significant spending in the transfer market.

Graham Potter, who has been out of management since he departed from Chelsea in April 2023, is poised to take over.

His experience with Brighton and Chelsea, where he implemented a possession-based style of play, makes him an attractive candidate for West Ham, who are looking to revitalize their approach on the pitch.

Reports suggest that Potter’s appointment could be confirmed imminently, with discussions focusing on the contract length, potentially starting with a short-term deal until the end of the season.
