A former Wimbledon striker, John Fashanu has said the Super Eagles must do everything in their capacity to avoid defeat against Cape Verde in today’s 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos.

Fashanu stated this in an interview with newsmen, where he stated that Nigeria must be proactive in front of goal against Cape Verde.

Recall that the Super Eagles are topping group C on 12 points while Cape Verde sits second on 10 points.

In his words: “The Eagles have to be ruthless against their opponents opponents in Lagos. They have fans behind them which should give them an advantage over the visitors.

“Also, having back in the team is not a bad idea because it will boost the confidence of the place which is great.

“This is the time to show everyone that we remain a strong side because it hurts when we lose here at home against minnows. So, the Eagles have to show the firepower and the desire to win.”
