…”Tinubu has placed Nigeria back at the center-stage of int’l affairs where she rightly belongs” – Fani-Kayode

…”Tinubu has come to renew the hopes of Nigerians” – Fayose

Former Ambassador to Germany and Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E Yusuf Tuggar has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bold move in restoring the diplomatic ties between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates, UAE, over visa ban placed on Nigeria in 2022.

The envoy in a tweet on X platform, formerly known as Twitter, on Monday, said the recent agreement will boost bilateral trade and strengthen the diplomatic bond between the two countries.

In his words, “I commend the Nigeria President H.E Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s diplomatic efforts in advancing the Nigeria-UAE Agreement and strengthening the bond between our nations.

“Restoring flights and lifting visa restrictions will boost bilateral trade, with UAE investments in key sectors and create opportunities for our people.

“Aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 8-point agenda and the Development pillar of 4-D Diplomacy, this milestone takes the Nigeria-UAE partnership to new heights.

“As always, I urge all Nigerians traveling to the UAE to be outstanding ambassadors of our great nation.”

Femi Fani-Kayode, a former minister of Aviation, in his reaction on Monday, said that President Bola Ahmed Tunubu is restoring Nigeria back to the global stage where she rightly belongs.

“In the last few days our President has placed Nigeria back at the center-stage of international affairs where she rightly belongs.”

Fani-Kayode in a post on his verified X hailed Tinubu for achieving immensely in the last few days.

“After a fantastic outing in India at the G20 summit which has attracted billions of dollars in investment to our country and where he rightly told world leaders that they cannot do without Nigeria, he went to the UAE and not only ensured that the visa ban on Nigerians was lifted but also ensured a resolution to the trapped Emirati funds at Central Bank and the issue of flight routes and air travel between our two countries. All these achievements in a matter of a few days.”

“These are things that the previous administration could not achieve in years of protracted and oftentimes acrimonious negotiations. I am truly proud of our President and, under his watch, Nigeria is clearly on the rise again. Not only has he restored our confidence and hope but he has also proved to the world that Great Nigeria, the Giant of Africa, has come alive again. Glory be to God!.”

In same vein, former Governor of Ekiti State and a Chieftain of the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ayo Fayose, in a tweet, on Monday, said that Tinubu’s recent move in restoring the diplomatic ties with UAE showed that Tinubu has come to renew the hopes of Nigerians.

In his words, “Resolution of the diplomatic row between Nigeria and the UAE is no doubt heart-warming.

“Allowing a diplomatic row that resulted in the imposition of visa ban on Nigerians and suspension of flights to Nigeria by Emirates, the UAE’s national carrier since October 2022, is no doubt leaves a sour taste in the mouths of many Nigerians whose businesses are tied to the UAE.

“Therefore, resolving such a diplomatic deadlock in just one visit to the UAE shows that President Tinubu has come to renew the hopes of Nigerians.”

Former Senator who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th Assembly, Shehu Sani, on Monday, commended the Federal Government, FG over its role in lifting the visa ban place on Nigeria in 2022.

Sani in a post on X handle said, “the Efforts by the FG to reach out to the UAE Government in order to end the Dubai Visa ban is a welcome development;but the Nigerian Government has a lot to do to checkmate the criminal activities of some of our unscrupulous citizens. It took them years of hard-work to build their country.

“No responsible country will allow such criminal activities.

“People suspected or involved in violent crimes, drug peddling or racketeering must be stopped and blacklisted by the Nigerian Immigration Service right here.

“We need to work on ourselves first.”
