Or Chief Bola Ige in the Third? Public life in Nigeria has lost its dignity. The solemnity once associated with leadership has been replaced…

The world has continued to react to Vincent Aboubakar’s historic World Cup goal and moments against Brazil.

The Cameroonian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Saudi Professional League club Al Nassr and captains the Cameroon national team handed the Indomitable Lions a historic World Cup win against Brazil on Friday.

Brazil had a better first half and threatened to break the deadlock in the second half umpteen times. But eventually it was Cameroon who scored the lone goal, in the stoppage time when a right-flank cross by Jerome Ngom Mbekeli found Aboubakar inside the box.

The skipper headed home the winner past Brazil goalkeeper Ederson to hand Cameroon a historic World Cup win in Qatar.

However, moments after his goal, he was handed a second yellow card and was sent off for removing his shirt during the celebration. He had thrown his short to the ground near the corner flag and waited for his teammates as they rushed toward him.

Following the jubilation, the referee handed him a red card and he was sent off the pitch in a version never seen before in the history of the game. This gesture has continued to trigger reactions on social media as fans across the globe express divergent views.

Stupity instead of takin the ball and trying to score a second typical African looking for self glory.

@Sidoufboy

Man lets say he takes the ball to the start point and ultimately they score 100 goals, what difference will it have made.!? Thats a joy of scoring the only goal against world team.

@YuleMstrong

Let the man celebrate his milestone,learn to celebrate your efforts However small they might be.Well done to Abu.

@PewakeM

Why remove ur shirt my friend. U hv a yellow card already. Now what if u were to defend that goal and qualify. Or what if that was knock out stage and u hv to play prolongation.  What if u needs to add another to qualify then u just suffer the team.

@thomassankara54

I am sure they will regret not fielding him from the first day.

I have never seen a player and a ref being happy together in a red card transaction until that moment. – @vayevaye.
