Anthony Joshua faced his “toughest-ever fight” as he lost his WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight titles to Oleksandr Usyk in London on Sunday, September 25 2021.

That prediction from the Brit’s promoter Eddie Hearn came true, with Joshua stunned in a unanimous decision defeat (117-112, 116-112, 115-113).

With it Usyk became the new heavyweight champion of the world.

However, it is a setback in Joshua’s ambition of becoming undisputed champion although it is far from the end of the world either.

Joshua’s defeat to underdog Andy Ruiz Jr. two years ago was a shock but the 31-year-old recovered and found his way back to the top.

Now he has to do it again.

While it won’t be the end of Joshua, it may well be the end of the highly-anticipated fight against Tyson Fury.
