Officers and soldiers in Theatre Command of the counter-terrorism military outfit in the North-East, code-named operation Hadin Kai, have trouped out en-mass to celebrate the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff, Major General Farouk Yahaya, who was serving with them before his appointment.

Their reactions were seen in a viral video, where a senior officer was seen urging them to put the new COAS in their prayers.

“Your happiness, it has been registered, the COAS is standing right before you. We will all retire back to your DIV. There is going to be a special moment.

“When you go back, you yourself,  your family, your people back home, tell them to submit the new COAS in the hands of Ģod, by praying fervently to Allah, for  guidance, direction and his protection. We will have cause to celebrate and jubilate at the end of his tenure.” He added.

Following the sudden demise of Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru, in a plane crash, last Friday President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Major General Farouk Yahaya as the new Chief of Army Staff on Thursday.

Prior to his appointment, Major General Yahaya was the General Officer Commanding 1 Division of the Nigerian Army.

He is also the incumbent Theatre Commander of the Counter Terrorism Counter Insurgency military outfit in the North East, code-named Operation Hadin Kai.
