The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has announced a successful operation in which an abducted lawyer and his young niece were freed from the grip of their captors.

A video sighted by The New Diplomat shows how police operatives discovered a concealed underground tunnel, the sinister location where the victims had been imprisoned or kept by the kidnappers.

The operatives said they acted swiftly on a vital tip-off and converged on the location where the abductees were being held.

“Come out, all of you. You are saved in Jesus name”, the voice of what seemed like a police officer could be heard during the rescue operation.

Giving further updates, Akwa Ibom Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nsifon John, said the victims are currently undergoing medical examination.

She stated: “There was a rescue oppression by the command, which was very successful, the victims are undergoing medical examination.”
