A video featuring the immediate-past governor of Kogi State, Governor Yahaya Bello, and the current Governor of the State, Governor Usman Ododo, engaging in a what appears to be a comical dance drama has garnered significant attention and reactions across social media platforms in Nigeria.

In the video, Bello was seen dancing with Ododo at a royal palace.

The video, which surfaced online after Bello’s release from EFCC custody, has sparked discussions.

While this is perceived by some as a light-hearted moment, others hinted it might be an attempt by the embattled former governor to send a political statement amidst his recent legal struggles.

The New Diplomat reports that the dance drama occurs against a backdrop of legal challenges for Bello, with accusations of money laundering and his subsequent arrest and release.

It would be recalled that Bello has been embroiled in several high-profile legal battles primarily centred around allegations of corruption, money laundering, and misappropriation of public funds.

Recall that Bello is facing multiple money laundering charges to the tune of N80.2 billion and criminal breach of trust. He is accused, alongside his nephew, Ali Bello, and others, of converting state funds for personal use. These allegations span from his time in office, particularly focusing on activities from 2016 onwards.

In a separate case, Bello, alongside Umar Shuaibu Oricha and Abdulsalam Hudu, is also facing 16 new charges involving an alleged N110.4 billion fraud. These charges also pertain to criminal breach of trust and conspiracy.

However, Bello has been granted bail at the cost of N500 million with stringent conditions like depositing his international passport and providing sureties. His trials have seen him in multiple court appearances, with dates set for continuation in early 2025.
