Kemi Badenoch, the leader of the Conservative Party, has continued to make headlines.
This time, for criticizing British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on several fronts related to governance.
Badenoch questioned Starmer’s economic policies, particularly in the aftermath of the budget, highlighting what she perceives as detrimental increases in costs for small businesses due to Labour’s budgetary decisions.
Badenoch raised this alarm during her speech at the Prime Minister’s Questions (PMQs), a constitutional convention in the United Kingdom, currently held as a single session every Wednesday at noon when the House of Commons is sitting, during which the prime minister answers questions from members of Parliament (MPs).
She accused the Labour government of leaving a significant financial “black hole” and has criticized their approach to managing the UK economy.
Badenoch says she’s met business leaders who say their companies will no longer exist next year because of new financial measures introduced by Labour, including a rise in National Insurance for employers.
The Tory leader asks, “Why should anyone trust a word he says?” when businesses complain that Rachel Reeves’s Budget will affect their ability to operate.
Badenoch also took Starmer to task over immigration policies, particularly about security and crime. She pointed out that under Starmer’s governance, there have been immigration issues that she claims have led to security risks, directly linking this to Labour’s stance on deporting criminals.
