  • LASTMA Says Driver Has Been Rescued

A sense of palpable panic has gripped residents of Mile 2 area of Lagos State following a frightening accident on Monday when a fully loaded container fell onto a passing Toyota Camry.

It was gathered that the accident occurred when a container, reportedly en route to Apapa, Lagos State, suddenly toppled and landed on a Toyota Camry with registration number LSR 293 HJ.

The crash was said to have sent shockwaves through the busy streets, as onlookers rushed to the scene, expressing shock and concern for the driver of the Toyota Camry.

Meanwhile, a statement issued by the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Adebayo Taofiq, revealed that the yet-to-be-identified driver was rescued alive.

Taofiq said the driver was rescued through the swift and coordinated response of LASTMA and other emergency services, including the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).

The statement reads in part: “The victim received immediate medical attention after being rushed to the hospital by the joint rescue team. Security during the operation was effectively maintained by Officers from the Kirikiri Police Division, who ensured a secure and orderly environment for the emergency responders. Following the rescue, the Toyota Camry was successfully removed from beneath the container.”

Taofiq said efforts to evacuate the fallen container are in full swing, while LASTMA officers continue to manage the scene to ease traffic congestion and restore normalcy.
