The 2025 budget defence session for the Nigeria Police was marked by major discord, leading to a principal officer, Senator Onyekachi Nwoebonyi, who represents Ebonyi North Senatorial District of Ebonyi State at the Senate, staging a walk out.

This incident happened during a session where Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun was presenting the 2025 police budget before a joint Committee of the National Assembly.

As the presentation progressed, Nwoebonyi suddenly interrupted, his voice raised in concern. He pointed out discrepancies between the report that Egbetokun was presenting and the version he held in his own hands.

This escalated the anxieties in the room as lawmakers were torn between allowing the IGP to continue his presentation or not.

Following the decision of other lawmakers to allow Egbetokun to continue with his presentation, Nwoebonyi angrily walked out of the session.
