The official portrait of Mudashiru Obasa has been dramatically removed from the Lagos State House of Assembly’s Chamber.

The removal of Obasa’s portrait follows his impeachment as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Recall that Obasa was impeached on Monday, January 13, 2025, over allegations of gross misconduct and abuse of office.

After serving three terms as speaker since 2015, he was replaced by Mojisola Meranda, who became the first female speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

This action symbolizes the end of Obasa’s tenure, which had been marked by numerous controversies including accusations of financial mismanagement and a strained relationship with the state’s executive arm.
