Mrs Ekaette Akpabio, wife of the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has publicly defended her husband against allegations of sexual harassment made by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District of Kogi State at the Senate.

The controversy emerged after Natasha claimed in an interview with Arise Television that her ongoing conflicts with the Senate President stemmed from her rejection of his alleged sexual advances.

She further alleged that Akpabio had blocked her legislative motions in the Senate as retaliation for her refusal, pointing to an incident she claimed began on December 8, 2023.

However, addressing journalists at her residence in Abuja on Friday, Mrs Akpabio firmly dismissed these accusations, describing them as baseless and a “figment of wild imagination.”

She described her husband as a “disciplined and jovial” man whose character and actions have been misinterpreted.

Mrs Akpabio also emphasized her husband’s respect for his family, asserting, “There is no way that a man as disciplined as that can think of taking a woman to his home. He has a lot of respect for me and the children.”

She added: “The allegations are unfounded, as she was present at her family residence on the alleged date, 8th December 2023.

“Both families enjoy a long-standing cordial relationship that predates Senator Natasha’s marriage to her husband.”

She, therefore, urged women to desist from peddling such false allegations, as she vowed to seek legal redress on the matter.
