The family of late music legend, Sir Victor Uwaifo has announced his burial arrangements.
According to the family, the burial arrangements had been scheduled to run for three days.
The arrangements were made known in a media interview with Uwaifo’s manager, Chris Eburu.
The manager said the burial ceremony will take place from 23 to 26 of September.
Eburu said the service of songs will take place on September 23 at his Benin residence.
On September 24, a special outing service will hold in honour of the late Joromi singer.
On September 25, guests and dignitaries will be hosted at a lavish ceremony at an undisclosed venue.
On September 26, there will be a thanksgiving service at Holy Cross Cathedral in Benin, Edo State.
The New Diplomat earlier reported that the prolific musician and guitarist was 80 years old when he died.
Uwaifo was a songwriter, sculptor, music and instrument inventor.
The musician that was popularly called ‘Guitar boy’ died after a brief illness.
Uwaifo was honoured with the National Merit Honours of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON).
Uwaifo obtained a B.A. Honours (first class valedictorian), Masters degree and PhD in Architectural Sculpture, University of Benin (UNIBEN).
He was a lecturer at the UNIBEN’s Department of Fine and Applied Art.
Uwaifo is the winner of the first gold disc in Africa for the hit track Joromi, released in 1965.
