An Abuja-based Vanguard reporter, Tordue Henry Salem has been found dead a month after he was declared missing.

Vanguard newspaper revealed this in a report, noting that details of the circumstances surrounding the recovery of his corpse were sketchy.

The deceased was a National Assembly correspondent of the newspaper, who covered the House of Representatives.

He was last seen around Total filling station, close to the Force headquarters, Abuja, on October 13, 2021.

Some persons have reportedly been arrested in connection with his disappearance.

Among them is one Prince Enyenihi, who was said to have contacted the deceased’s wife to demand a N100 million ransom.

“If you don’t pay, Tordue will be killed in seven days. For more information, call this number,” Enyenihi was said to have said in a text message sent to Salem’s wife.

Salem, the House of Representatives correspondent for the Lagos-based newspaper, was last seen on Wednesday October 13, but Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Babaji Sunday, had earlier disclosed that his men were searching for Tordue.

The CP said Tordue left his car at the National Assembly Complex on the day he went missing, noting that he may have left the complex with some other persons.

After the close of work that day, Vanguard reported that he alighted from a cab at Total filling station, close to the Force headquarters, and headed for B.J’s garden, in the company of a female relative.

Thereafter, he reportedly flagged a cab for the lady who left before him, informing her that he was going to Area 8, Garki. But he was never seen until his remains were recovered on Thursday.
