Ahead of the South-South Zonal eliminations for the 2022 National Sports Festival (NSF), five State contingents have arrived in Uyo for the zonal play-offs event.

Athletes from five states: Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Edo, Cross Rivers and Rivers converged in Uyo for the elimination series that started from the 2nd of October and will end on the 7th.

A report from sources in the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Youth and Sports affirmed that there will be a ‘Technical Meeting’ to determine the fixtures at West Itam Secondary School Sports Centre on Tuesday 4th October 2022.

The zonal eliminations will feature seven sporting events for the male and female categories. These include Football, Basketball, Volleyball and Handball. Others are Baseball, Beach Volleyball, and Hockey.

All Football events will be hosted at the Training Pitch of Nest of Champions, Uyo.

A corroborated report indicates Aka Community School will be the venue for Baseball, while other sports will be held at West Itam Secondary School Sports Centre.
