The newly sworn-in Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, on his first day in office, has forwarded the list of members of his cabinet to the State House of Assembly for confirmation. The New Diplomat reports that Ododo was sworn in on Saturday as the fifth democratically elected governor of Kogi State, succeeding his predecessor, Yahaya Bello.

The list forwarded to the State Assembly contains names of some commissioners who were members of the immediate past administration of Bello, according to the Leadership.

They include the former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Folashade Ayoade Arike; Kingsley Femi Fanwo, a former Commissioner for Information and Communications; and Barrister Abdulsalam Ozigi Deedat, a former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in the state, among other appointed aides.

It would be recalled that in the November 11, 2023, off-cycle election, Ododo was declared the winner after securing 446,237 votes.

The candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Mr. Murtala Ajaka, garnered 259,052 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Senator Dino Melaye, a former federal lawmaker, secured 46,362 votes.
