First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump on Sunday spoke in support of her husband, saying American people deserved a fair election.

Reacting to President Donald Trump’s defeat at the US presidential poll, she said every legal votes must be counted before a winner is announced and certified at the US Congress.

As of the time of this reporting, according to the Associated Press, Biden has garnered 290 electoral college votes, while Trump has 214 votes. Georgia and North Carolina are the only states that have not been called for any of the candidates.

Trump has been filing cases of electoral fraud at the US court in a bid to upturn Biden’s victory in certain states, which promises to be a herculean task.

Melania said the nation’s democracy must be protected with complete transparency.

“The American people deserve fair elections. Every legal – not illegal – vote should be counted.

“We must protect our democracy with complete transparency,” she tweeted.
