In a historic achievement, Amanda Azubuike, a 57-year-old black military officer of Nigerian origin, has become the first Nigerian woman to attain the rank of Brigadier General in the United States Army.

Amanda Azubuike, the trailblazing officer who has shattered ceilings in the U.S. Army, was born in London to Nigerian parents of Igbo descent and a Zimbabwean mother.
