Determined to prevent the escape of inmates at the Agbor Correctional Centre in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State following the collapse of a perimeter fence at the center, a combined team of fierce-looking security agents have been deployed to the area.

The fence reportedly caved in on Monday evening as a result of a terrible rainstorm that preceded the heavy rain in the town.

There is presently unease in the town as a result of the presence of the heavily armed security operatives and the consequences of a successful jailbreak.

Confirming the development in Asaba on Tuesday morning, the spokesman of Nigeria Correctional Services (NCS), Delta State Command, Mr. Allen Iloba said there were no casualties as a result of the collapsed fence, while also assuring that no inmates escaped from their cell.

Iloba said the windy storm that blew off the fence occurred at about 4. pm when the inmates had been locked up in the cells.

“When there is such a storm, we usually lock up the inmates. So, they had already been locked up in their cells, and when the rain came with the terrible storm, the left side of the perimeter fence caved in. The inmates were in their cells when the fence fell.

“Men have been drafted, we have men of the Nigerian Army on the ground. We equally have operatives of the Nigerian Police Force, to complement the efforts and number of our personnel.

“We also have the conventional staff that you know before, they are on the ground. That place is properly covered, and the security there is water-tight. Everything is under control, we are on top of the situation,” he assured
