Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has dismissed all commissioners appointed by the former governor, the late Rotimi Akeredolu, following the dissolution of the State Executive Council.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, on Wednesday.

According to the statement, all cabinet members have been instructed to surrender all official property in their possession to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior administrative officers.

“The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has dissolved the State Executive Council, with immediate effect,” the statement read.

“All members of the Cabinet are to immediately hand over to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior administrative officers in their respective offices.”

The statement added that all aides appointed by the former governor were relieved of their duties.

“Also, all Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs) are relieved of their duties, with immediate effect,” he added.

“All the affected officials are directed to hand over all government properties in their possession.

“The governor thanks the affected officials for their services and contributions to the development of the State.”

TheNewDiplomat recalls that the dissolution comes barely three weeks after Aiyedatiwa took over power following the death of Akeredolu on December 27, 2023.

The late governor passed away a few days after handing over power to Aiyedatiwa while making plans to return to Germany to continue his treatment.
