  • Express confidence in Omo-Agege/Osanebi Ticket

The uncertainty that is currently beclouding the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as to whether or not the party would have a governorship candidate in Delta State for the 2023 election is already taking its toll on the number of its members decamping enmasse to other political parties.

Among chieftains of the PDP that defected to APC in Ukwuani Local Government Area, recently, are Hon. Felix Ochor and Hon. Asabo Solomon.

Hon. Felix Ochor (aka Ibori) is the younger brother to the Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Ochor Christopher Ochor, while Hon. Asabo Solomon has been a PDP Youth Leader in Obiaruku, Ukwuani Local Government Area.

The duo who, along with their supporters, announced their defection to the All Progressives Congress, APC, yesterday in Asaba, noted that from the look of things the PDP may not be able to field a governorship candidate for the 2023 election.

It would be recalled that the PDP in the State has been embroiled in a state of confusion as its candidate that emerged from the governorship primary, has been engaged in a legal battle with the second runner up at the Court of Appeal, following his sack by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

Although the Court of Appeal which heard the case on Friday June, 19, has adjourned to a later date for judgment, political analysts believed that either way it goes, it is likely to get to Supreme court, a situation that may be caught up with limitation of time.

Emerging from a meeting with the APC governorship running mate in the State, Hon. Friday Osanebi, in Asaba yesterday, Hon. Felix Ochor and Hon. Asabo Solomon, both expressed confidence in the Omo-Agege/Osanebi APC ticket, assuring that the youths of Ndokwa nation would rally round them to win the next election landslide.

The duo stated that they took the bold step to dump the PDP because of the uncertainty hanging over the party, adding that they decided to join the APC because of the antecedents of Hon. Friday Osanebi in Ndokwa Nation, whom, according to them, has no rival in Ndokwa politics.

“From the look of things, especially the court cases between Sheriff Oborevwori and David Edevbie, PDP does not have any Governorship candidate in Delta State Governorship elections come 2023. So Omo-Agege and Osanebi are governor and deputy governor in waiting. They are waiting for inauguration in 29th May, 2023.

“Osanebi’s emergence as Deputy Governorship candidate of the APC has energized youths of Ndokwa Nation and they will rally round him and the APC to win by landslide in Ndokwa Nation.

The PDP Youth leader in Obiaruku, Asabo Solomon also stated that his decision to join the APC was informed by his desire to support the aspiration of the Deputy Governorship candidate of the party, Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi, assuring that he would mobilize massively for the Agege/Osanebi ticket.

Meanwhile, the APC deputy governorship candidate, Hon. Friday Osanebi has assured the new decampees of the party’s attention and sense of belonging, adding that they have the same rights and privileges as older members.

He welcome the new members and their supporters, urging them to put in their best to ensure victory for the APC in the 2023 election.
