Ahead of the mouth-watering clash with Chelsea, Man City have been dealt what could be a huge blow in the form of a potential injury.

City held a training session on Friday evening ahead of Saturday night’s big game, and it was reported by journalist Marcelo Bechler that midfield star Ilkay Gundogan has pulled up with an injury.

He tweeted: “Gundogan leaves training limping! It appears to be a muscle problem in the thigh.”

Gundogan had been many people’s nomination for Premier League player of the year having played such a huge role in Manchester City’s title success.

His absence would be a monumental loss for Guardiola, particularly this late in the day, potentially offering Chelsea a boost in the process.

Just whether Gundogan can shake off the injury in time remains to be seen, but we are now very close to the final, and the fact that it appeared to be a muscular injury will be of real concern for City.

Though, others who witnessed the injury claim it was more of a bump having come together with Benjamin Mendy. If that is the case, City will be far more optimistic about his fitness for tomorrow night, with bruising far more likely, something the German can more than likely play through.

Like many players, Gundogan has played a large amount of games this season, racking up 45 in total so far, including 11 in the Champions League.
