Two suspected drug traffickers identified as Chukwudi Destiny and Ezekiel Chibuzo have excreted a total of 191 pellets of heroin and cocaine following their arrest.
The two suspects were arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos and placed in detention, where they excreted the hard drugs.
This was contained in a statement released on Sunday and issued by the NDLEA’s spokesman, Mr Femi Babafemi.
According to the statement, Destiny was arrested on April 10, during an outward screening of passengers on the Ethiopian Airline heading to Italy. Destiny was said to have tested positive to drug ingestion when a scan test was conducted on him.
Following the outcome of the test, he was immediately place under observation and in the process excreted 92 pellets of heroin, which weighed 1.300 kilogrammes.
On the other hand, Chibuzo, was arrested on April 16, after he landed in Lagos from Brazil on board the Qatar Airline. He was also arrested after the test conducted on him came out positive for drug ingestion.
Chibuzo excreted 99 wraps of cocaine while in detention.
Reacting, Chairman and Chief Executive NDLEA, Brig. General Muhamed Buba Marwa commended the officers of the agency at the MMIA command for their commitment in ensuring that all drug traffickers are brought to book.
In his words, “I commended the officers and men of our MMIA command, let me again warn unrepentant barons and traffickers that the game is up for them because we will continue to disrupt their criminal trade as part of efforts to secure our country and protect the future of our youths.”
This drug haul is coming after the NDLEA had arrested a suspected trafficker identified to be Chimezie Henry at the Murtala airport.
Henry also excreted 113 wraps of cocaine weighing 1.750kg while in detention.
