From Segun Amure, (The New Diplomat’s Abuja Bureau)

The American microblogging and social networking service popularly known as Twitter on Friday permanently suspended the account of the outgoing President of the United States, Donald Trump over the desecration of the U.S. Capitol Hill on Wednesday.

“After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence,” the company said in a tweet.

Recall that Trump had in a rally on Wednesday urged his supporters to march to the Capitol.

“We’re going to walk down to the Capitol and we’re going to cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women and we’re probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them,” he said at the rally.

“Because you’ll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength and you have to be strong.” He said.

Sadly, five people died in the rioting at the Capitol, including one police officer, just hours after Trump held a rally and urged his supporters to march to the Capitol.

Before now, Mark Zuckerberg the CEO and founder of Facebook and Instagram announced on Thursday the suspension of Trump’s account for at least two weeks, and possibly indefinitely.

“We believe the risks of allowing the president to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great,” Mr. Zuckerberg wrote.

As a result, he said, Facebook and its photo-sharing site Instagram would extend blocks, first put in place on Wednesday, on Mr. Trump’s ability to post “until the peaceful transition of power is complete.”

Also, Trump loyalists former national security adviser Michael Flynn and attorney Sidney Powell were also banned from twitter on the promotion of QAnon conspiracy theory.
