The President-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, has announced the nomination of his son’s fiancee, Kimberly Guilfoyle, as the US ambassador to Greece.
Trump made this announcement on his social media, the Truth Social.
The president-elect said his decision to nominate Guilfoyle, a former assistant district attorney and Fox News personality is because she is “perfectly suited”.
Trump said he expects Guilfoyle to foster “strong bilateral relations with Greece, advancing our interests on issues ranging from defence cooperation to trade and economic innovation.”
“Her extensive experience and leadership in law, media, and politics, along with her sharp intellect, make her supremely qualified to represent the United States and safeguard its interests abroad,” he added.
The New Diplomat reports that Trump’s son, Don Jr. and Guilfoyle began dating in 2018, after his divorce from his ex-wife Vanessa, whom he was married to for 12 years. Vanessa and Don Jr. share five children.
