Former President of the United States of America (USA) and the Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump has appreciated citizens of the United States for voting for him.

The New Diplomat reports that Trump is currently in the lead as US presidential election results continue to trickle in.

He has been projected by CNN, Fox News among others to have defeated Vice President of the US and the Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.

Addressing the press, Trump said: “I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honor of being elected your 47th president, and your 45th president.

“I will fight for you, for your family and your future every single day. I will be fighting for you with every breath in my body. I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe and prosperous America that our children deserve and that you deserve. This will truly be the golden age of America.”

The Republican Party candidate has polled a total of 267 electoral college votes, while Harris polled 224 electoral college votes at the time of reporting.
