…The pair will now sail through the pristine Mediterranean waters on the 417 feet long vessel.

Jeff Bezos commissioned his $500 million sailing yacht Koru in 2018. Since then, the mammoth made news for reasons like stature, controversy (owing to a historic bridge), and spectacular details. Then came news of Koru completing sea trials and her maiden voyage to the Amazon co-founder. After nearly five years, the billionaire owner and his beloved boat have come together for the first time, with lady love Lauren Sanchez in tow. The 59-year-old philanthropist arrived on the Spanish Balearic Island by private jet before being transferred to a helicopter that whisked the couple to Koru yacht.

The Abeona support vessel.

The helicopter would’ve undoubtedly landed on Abeola, Koru’s $75 million support vessel with a helipad. Owing to gigantic triple masts reaching 230 feet, Koru does not feature a helipad, a minor inconvenience that the businessman tackled with a $75 million solution. The 247-foot-long vessel behind Koru is a beast, capable of cruising 5000 miles on a single tank. With a massive volume of approximately 1,900 GT, one of the largest support vessels worldwide accommodates 45 people, including crew, guests, and specialist staff.

Speaking of crew, the third-wealthiest person in the world was spotted mingling with Koru’s staff, enjoying his glorious investment, and studying her beauty from her expansive decks to her towering masts.

Jeff Bezos did seem besotted by his boat. It appeared the Mediterranean’s azure waters would fall short compared to the captivating second-largest sailing ship in the world (Sailing Yacht A is the largest). While their destination is unknown, the megayacht is currently located in the Balearic Sea.

Bezos and his beloved boarded the Oceanco beauty with plenty of supplies, including Amazon packages and racks of designer garment bags such as Dolce and Gabbana, suggesting their trip won’t be very short. Initially called Project Y721, this enormous luxury vessel is the stuff of dreams that the centibillionaire will pay around $137,000 daily for the vessel’s upkeep.

The 417-footer boasts three decks, including one with a swimming pool. The $500 million pleasure craft will also have a gym, a spa, a sauna, space for multiple guests, and a crew of around 60 people. While there aren’t any images of its interiors, it was reported that Koru was loosely based on the iconic 305-ft yacht Eos belonging to Bezos’s close friend Barry Diller, founder and former CEO of Fox. Eos is a master class in elegance designed by Bill Langan and François Catroux.

She flaunts an impressive layout and design that would get the nod of approval from royals, aristocrats, and moguls alike. The broad smile on Jeff Bezos’s face shows Koru, too, is quite the charming schooner he expected.
