Tributes about the impact he made in his hit song “I Can See Clearly Now” have been pouring in following the announcement of the death of American singer and songwriter, Johnny Nash, Wednesday.

Nash who is most popular for his 1972 chart-topper, I Can See Clearly Now, died of natural causes at the age of 80 in his hometown in Houston, Texas, as revealed by his son, Johnny Nash Jr.

It was reported that the deceased’s career started in 1950 and he was the first to bring Jamaican reggae music to American audiences. It was also gathered that Nash helped his friend, Bob Marley, launch his career.American singer Johnny Nash

Interestingly, Nash’s most popular song, I Can See Clearly Now, was said to have been written by the music star after he recovered from cataract surgery.

Covers of the song were later made by many artistes including the legendary Ray Charles, Donny Osmond and Jimmy Cliff.

Despite the success of the “I Can See Clearly Now” song, Nash rarely ever topped charts again and was practically out of the business by the 1990s.

The late singer was reportedly married three times and he was survived by his son, daughter and third wife, Carli.
