The Bauchi State Governorship Election Tribunal in its judgment delivered on Wednesday upheld the re-election of Governor Bala Mohammed.

It would be recalled that Governor Mohammed was declared winner of the March 18 election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after securing 525,280 votes, his closet rival, Sadique Abubakar, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 432,272 votes.

However, the outcome of the result was challenged by APC’s Abubakar, the former Chief of Air Staff, on the grounds that the election was marred with irregularities.

Meanwhile, delivering judgment on Wednesday, the tribunal dismissed the petition filed by Abubakar and his party.

The judgment delivered by a three-man panel headed by Justice P.T Kwahar held that the petitioner failed to adduce strong reasons why the election of Governor Mohammed should be nullified adding it was conducted by INEC within the ambit of the law.
