Hours after releasing footage containing a threat to President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna state, the terrorists, who attacked a Kaduna-bound train in March, and abducted several passengers, have released four more hostages.

It was learnt that three of the hostages were released on Monday while the fourth person had been released about six days ago.

The released victims include Oluwatoyin Ojo, Hassan Lawan, and Pastor Ayodeji Oyewumi, while Mrs Gladys Brumen was earlier released days ago.

The release of the hostages comes a day after the terrorists released a video of them hitting some of the male hostages with a cudgel.

It would be recalled that 24 of the passengers have been released so far in six batches beginning with the Managing Director of the Bank of Agriculture, Hassan Alwan, who was released few days after the attack.

The terrorists later released a pregnant woman after which a Kaduna-based publisher and media consultant to Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Gumi, Malam Tukur Mamu, became the lead negotiator with the terrorists for the release of the remaining passengers.

Mamu led negotiations for the release of 18 of the passengers in two batches. 11 were released on June 11, 2022 and another group of seven passengers were released on July 9, 2022 and reunited with their families.
