Tottenham Hotspur has delivered a huge performance, securing a 2-0 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, August 23, 2025.

This is as Tottenham continued its electrifying start to the 2025/26 Premier League season after beating Burnley 3-0 in the first match of the season.

The North London side’s relentless attacking prowess and tactical discipline also handed Manchester City its first home defeat of the campaign.

From the opening whistle, Tottenham showcased its intent, pressing high and exploiting gaps in City’s usually impenetrable defense. The breakthrough came in the 27th minute when Son Heung-min, in scintillating form, curled a sublime effort past Ederson after a swift counter-attack orchestrated by James Maddison.

Tottenham Hotspur secures three points with Brennan Johnson and Joao Palhinha finding the back of the net.

Reacting to the victory, Tottenham’s manager, Thomas Frank said: “We know it’s always difficult to play against City, here at Etihad even more.

“The clean sheet makes me very happy, it’s a big thing we’ve been working on, the defensive side of the game. Last year we had six clean sheets, so yeah, very big for me.”
