Jesutega Onokpasa, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta state and a well-known political commentator, has passed away at the age of 49.

The news of his death, which occurred on Monday, June 9, 2025, was confirmed by multiple sources, including a statement from pro-APC influencer Okezie Atani.

He wrote: “We lost Barr. Jesutega Onokpasa, may his soul rest in perfect peace.”

Onokpasa, a lawyer and vocal supporter of President Bola Tinubu, was a key figure in the APC, serving on the party’s Publicity Committee during the 2023 presidential election campaign.

His outspoken commentary on national television, where he passionately defended the APC-led administration, earned him widespread recognition.

However, in recent months, Onokpasa had publicly criticized the Tinubu administration, expressing disappointment over what he described as an unfulfilled promises relating to food security and economic policies.

He also distanced himself from Tinubu’s leadership, declaring that he would not support the President’s re-election bid in 2027.
