Consortiums of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO) in Nigeria have challenged parents and Federal Government on the importance of the girl-child education.
The three NGOs which include FAME Foundation, The Tonto Dikeh Foundation and Bells Echo Initiative all based in Abuja gave the challenge during girls empowerment outreach on the importance of the girl-child education carried out at the LEA primary School, Kovin Madaki in the Federal Capital Territory
Speaking at the outreach, founder of FAME Foundation, who is also girl/women right advocate, Aderonke Bello calls on the federal government to encourage the girl-child by ensuring they are educated. “We are calling on the Federal Government to support the girls by giving a sound education and to create the enabling environment which will allow them become literate, these can put an end to the child marriage” Bello said.
President of The Tonto Dikeh Foundation, Tonto Dikeh urges parents and guardians to send their daughters to school. “Parents and guardians should please send their girls to school, also the community should get involved more in the improvement of girls access to education. Education is the key to success” Dikeh said.
President of Bells Echo Initiative Abiodun Bello said it is always delighted to be involved in education of girl-child who are the fabric of every society. “It’s always a delight to be involved with the facilitation of education, especially for the girl-child who are the fabric of every society” Bello added.
