In a candid social media post, Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage opened up about her regrets over leaving her marriage, warning others to be wary of the enticing promises of new relationships.

Speaking from a place of vulnerability, Savage cautioned against heeding the promises of men who offer heaven and earth, warning that they may ultimately disappoint. She expressed remorse over her decision to leave her marriage, highlighting the allure of single life as short-lived and ultimately unfulfilling.

“Don’t listen to that man promising you heaven and earth, he may become worse than your partner,” Savage wrote. “I regret leaving my marriage.”

The “Somebody’s Son” singer reflected on witnessing the enduring love between celebrity couple Simi and Adekunle Gold, which she says made her lament being single. “Their love is still burning fresh like they started just yesterday,” she described. “Omo, na that day single life pan me…”

Savage, who divorced her husband Tee Billz in 2018 after accusing him of financial recklessness, infidelity and abandonment, now cautions others against being “gullible” and “misled” into thinking the “grass is greener” in new relationships.

“Many of those ladies you see out there celebrating their divorce and separation from their spouses aren’t truly happy,” she wrote. “No one celebrates divorce and if they are truly happy then, they won’t celebrate it.”

The famous singer advised couples to work through issues in their existing relationships instead of giving up hastily. “If not a case of violence, sit down with your husband/partner and sort things out. Every relationship has ups and downs, even twins fight and have issues.”

Savage’s sobering reflections provide a counterpoint to societal narratives that may valorize separations or single life. “The pasture looks lush green on the other side from afar, it can’t be same when you get there,” she cautioned. “Guard what you presently have jealously, it is the best. Being single no be moi moi.”
