Director, Media & Publicity, All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Bayo Onanuga has said the APC and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will campaign on the records and legacies of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government.
Onanuga, who alleged that there’s been a conspiracy in the media against Buhari’s government, argued that the President’s achievements will serve as a plus for Tinubu as campaign officially begins on September 28.
Onanuga spoke during an interview with Arise TV, saying, Tinubu, when elected in 2023 would solve all the challenges left by the present government.
However, his claims are beginning to spark rebuttals on the social media as some are not having any of it in the light of the harsh economic reality and pervasive insecurity under the Buhari’s government.
According to Onanuga’s argument, Buhari has performed well as he claimed Nigerians are ready for continuity through an administration led by Tinubu.
He said, ‘’Our candidate will campaign, first of all, on zone track record as a successful eight years governor. He will also campaign on the bold legacies of this (Buhari) administration.
“As I said, this government is confronted by so many challenges, the incoming government, by the grace of God, will solve all those problems. Our manifesto is built on that, to resolve some of the challenges we have noticed in this administration. So, we are going to continue with that.
“So, of course, don’t forget this government is not getting praised for some of these things they did. The social investment programme of this government, it has no parallel in the history of our country. Nobody’s ever done it. And that is a programme that touches 15 million Nigerians. It is the first of its kind in this country, maybe also the first in Africa.
“And in many parts of the world including South Africa, have been coming to copy that programme. It’s a big programme that Buhari is not getting kudos for it. So many things this government has done and are not getting kudos for it.
“The present government is confronting those challenges before its tenure runs over, this government is confronting the challenges of insecurity. A lot of the things that our security men and the soldiers, the airforce are doing in the northwest and the Northeast. So they are doing a lot of things. Like he (Buhari) has said himself, that is he is going to hand over this country safer than he met it.”
