President Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to Abuja in the early hours of Sunday, July 13, 2025, following a 15-day diplomatic tour that included a visit to Saint Lucia and participation in the 17th BRICS Summit in Brazil.

The President was welcomed at the Presidential Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by a delegation of top government officials.

Recall that Tinubu’s journey began on June 28, 2025, with a state visit to Saint Lucia, a Caribbean nation with reported historical connections to Nigeria.

This visit, the first of its kind by a Nigerian president, given the status of the country, sought to forge new partnerships and reinforce ties with the Caribbean through the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), the Presidency had said.

During the visit, discussions were held with regional leaders which reportedly underscored potential collaborations in healthcare, education, and creative industries, with Saint Lucia’s Prime Minister inviting Nigerian investors and professionals to bolster the island’s development.

After his visit to Saint Lucia, Tinubu traveled to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to attend the 17th BRICS Summit on July 6-7, 2025.

According to the Presidency, the summit provided a platform to enhance the nation’s role in global economic and diplomatic affairs.

The event, hosted under Brazil’s presidency, focused on reforming global governance and fostering cooperation among Global South nations.
