President Bola Tinubu has submitted the name of Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, SAN, to the Senate for confirmation as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The nomination was conveyed in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and read on the floor of the Senate during Tuesday’s plenary.

Udeh currently serves as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Enugu State. President Tinubu praised him as a professional of exemplary character, citing his “proven integrity and competence” as qualifications for the role.

“I am pleased to forward to the Senate the nomination of Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), for confirmation as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the letter read in part.

Udeh’s nomination comes weeks after the resignation of Uche Nnaji as Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, over certificate scandal.

Tinubu urged lawmakers to accord the request swift approval in line with the Senate’s tradition of cooperation on matters of national importance.

Presiding over the session, Akpabio referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for consideration and screening.
