Presidential candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, were present at the burial ceremony of Princess Margaret Obaigbena, the mother of Chairman/Editor-in-chief of Thisday/Arise Group, Prince Nduka Obaigbena.

She was laid to rest at her hometown, Owa-Oyibu, headquarters of Ika North East local government area of Delta State.

The funeral rite commenced with a funeral ceremony service which held at St Andrews Anglican Church, Owa-Oyibu.

Other prominent individuals who attended the funeral ceremony are: Delta State Governor and the Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Babajide Sanwaolu of Lagos, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti, Bagudu Atiku of Kebbi and Prof. Charles Soludo of Anambra.

Others were former governor Donald Duke, Prince Ned Nwoko, the Chief of Defence Staff General Lucky Irabor, veteran journalist Mr Ray Ekpo, Mr Mike Ogiadomhe, Olorogun Oskar Ibru, Hon Ndudi Elumelu, former Edo Governor Adams Oshiomhole and CBN Governor, Dr. Godwin Emefiele.

The Anglican Bishop of Etsako Diocese in Edo State, Rt Rev Felix Olorunfemi, who delivered the sermon at the service of songs, harped on the need for people to serve God and help others, noting that there is an urgency in such call to serve because our purposes on earth are time-bound.

Ekpenisi charged the Obaigbenas to let peace and unity reign in their family, urging the people to shun intra family war.

In his words, “Light is the only solution to darkness that today looms over the nations of the world. Princess Obaigbena was always conscious of the fact that God raises people to impact others positively.

“When a man, who has been given the light of God by virtue of the position he finds himself, fails to render help to the needy at the appointed and appropriate time, it is useless if he does it later.

“Our God-given assignment on earth is time-bound, so we must work while it is day, for night comes when no man can work. Shine your light that God has provided you and impact lives meaningfully while you still have the time.”
