A former governor of Lagos state and one of the national leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has refuted media reports which claim that he was down with complications arising from COVID-19.

Mr Tunde Rahman, media aide to the former Lagos Governor, Asiwaju Tinubu who spoke on the subject matter on behalf of his boss, debunked online reports that his principal is battling with Covid-19 infected disease.

It would be recalled that  some media reports had claimed that Tinubu was down with the ravaging  virus and had been flown abroad, precisely to France, for proper medical attention.

However, Rahman in a statement said, whereas Asiwaju Tinubu is currently abroad, the reports were inaccurate and completely misleading.

He said Tinubu, one of the national leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC)embarked on the foreign trip in line with his annual tradition of taking time off to reflect on the outgone year and prepare for the new year.

He said the result of the Covid-19 test conducted on Tinubu before his departure out of the country was negative.

He said: “This story is inaccurate. Asiwaju is healthy and does not have COVID-19. He took his annual trip and as part of the preparation for the trip he took a COVID-19 test which was negative”

“Since the advent of the pandemic, Asiwaju has always done his level best to observe, as strictly as humanly possible, all government advice and safety protocols to prevent the spread of the virus and to keep himself and those around him safe from harm”.

Rahman added: “This has not changed. Shortly before Christmas, he indeed travelled out of Nigeria for his annual holiday. This is something he does each year to give himself a chance to rest and reflect on the year just passed while also preparing for the challenges and opportunities of the one to come. There will be no further comment on this story from our office”.
