President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has nominated Ambassador Haruna Ginsau, a former Nigerian Ambassador to Algeria who hails from Jigawa State as chairman of the inaugural Board of North West Development Commission.
Also nominated are Senator Tijani Kaura from Zamafara state as a member and Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji, a professor of Industrial and technology education as the managing director/CEO, amongst others.
Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga in a statement said all the names of the nominated members of the inaugural board of the North West Development Commission (NWDC) have been forwarded to the Senate for confirmation.
This development follows the signing of the North West Development Commission bill into law on 24 July, 2024 by Tinubu.
According to observers, this latest move marks a significant milestone in the establishment of the Commission.
The nominated names for the governing board of the NWDC are:
Chairman: Ambassador Haruna Ginsau (Jigawa)
MD/CEO: Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji (Kano)
Members:
Dr. Yahaya Umar Namahe (Sokoto)
Hon. Aminu Suleiman (Kenobi)
Sen. Tijani Yahaya Kaura (Zamfara)
Hon. Abdulkadir S. Usman (Kaduna)
Hon. Engr. Muhammad Ali Wudil (Kano)
Shamsu Sule (Katsina)
Nasidi Ali (Jigawa)
According to the presidency, all the nominated members of the board are being saddled with the immense responsibility of bringing their wealth of experience and expertise to bare on the Commission’s mandate of developing the Notth West region of the country.
According to Onanuga, Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to supporting the NWDC in its mission to bringing sustainable development to the region is constant.
