President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Deputy Controller-General (DCG) Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the new Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), effective August 14, 2025.
The announcement was made in a statement by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), signed by its secretary, Abdulmalik Jibrin.
This marks a new chapter for the FFS as it prepares for the retirement of the outgoing Controller-General, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji Olola, on August 13, 2025, upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.
The statement reads in part: “This appointment follows the imminent retirement of the current Controller-General, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji Olola, on 1st August, 2025, upon attaining the age of sixty.
“DCG Olumode Samuel Adeyemi brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having transferred his service from the FCT Fire Service to the Federal Fire Service and grown to the rank of Deputy Controller-General of Fire in the Human Resource Directorate of the Service Headquarters.
“In the course of his career, the Officer has attended and passed all mandatory In-Service trainings, command course, as well as other courses within and outside the country.”
The New Diplomat reports that DCG Olumode Samuel Adeyemi brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having built a distinguished career in firefighting and emergency response.
Adeyemi, who hails from Kogi State, transferred from the FCT Fire Service to the Federal Fire Service, rising through the ranks to become Deputy Controller-General in charge of the Human Resource Directorate at the Service Headquarters.
His training includes mandatory in-service programs, command courses, and specialized training both within Nigeria and internationally.
Adeyemi’s credentials are said to be further bolstered by his membership and fellowship of some key professional bodies, including the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, the Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria.
