President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mr Michael Ango as acting Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS).

This was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Director of Press, office of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Anthony Ogunleye.

In the statement, Ogunleye revealed that Ango will take over from Mr Haruna Abdullahi, who headed the FCT-IRS in an acting capacity for about three years.

The statement reads in part: “He is, therefore, expected to bring his wealth of experience and proven track record in revenue administration, financial management, and organisational leadership to improve the performance of the service.”

The New Diplomat reports that Ango has over 20 years experience in public and private sector capacities.

Ango, from Kebbi State, holds a Master of Law degree from the Columbia University School of Law, New York, obtained in 2019 and a Bachelor of Law degree from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, obtained in 2002.

He attended the Nigerian Law School in 2003 and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government’s Executive Education in Comparative Tax Policy and Administration Programme in 2013.

He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and the International Association of Privacy Professionals amongst others.
