President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has unveiled another appointment into his cabinet, bringing on board Daniel Bwala, who previously served as a spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar’s campaign during the 2023 elections.

The president appointed Bwala as the Special Adviser on Public Communications and Media.

This was contained in a statement issued by the special adviser to the president on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

In the statement, Onanuga also revealed that Tinubu appointed Olawale Olopade as the director-general (DG) of the National Sports Commission (NSC) and Abisoye Fagade as the director-general of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism.

The president also appointed Adebowale Adedokun as the DG of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).

The statement reads in part: “Olopade, the new director-general of the National Sports Commission, is a sports administrator with many years of experience in the sector.

“He served as commissioner of youth and sports in Ogun state and was chairman of the local organising committee of the 2024 national sports festival.

“The new director-general of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, Dr. Abisoye Fagade is a marketing communication professional. He is the founder and managing director of Sodium Brand Solutions.

“Adedokun, the new helmsman of the Bureau of Public Procurement, was the director of research/training and strategic planning at the bureau before his appointment.”

The New Diplomat reports that Bwala is a lawyer and notable public affairs analyst.

Bwala worked as a spokesman for the PDP presidential campaign team in the 2023 election in which Tinubu beat Atiku Abubakar and others to clinch the ticket.

He was a vocal critic of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the president in the lead-up to that exercise with Tinubu as the flagbearer of the party.

However, Bwala has since dumped Atiku and had visited Tinubu at the presidential villa a few times.
