Former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has revealed that he has officially informed President Muhammadu Buhari about his ambition to run for president in 2023.

Tinubu, one of the national leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), made this revelation shortly after meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday.

Speaking with the state House correspondents, the former governor said he discussed how he plans to actualise his 2023 presidential ambition during the closed-door meeting with Buhari.

Tinubu added that he believes he has the capacity to lead Nigeria.

Here’s what he told newsmen, “I answer that with categorical yes. I’ve informed the President of my intention but I have not informed Nigerians yet. I’m still consulting. And I have no problem consulting. And I’ve noticed that a parameter of limitation to the extent of how many people will I consult.

“You will soon hear. All you want to hear is the categorical declaration. You’ve gotten that truth from me that I have informed Mr. President of my ambition.”

The revelation comes amidst indications that there could be a battle between former Lagos State governor and incumbent Vice President Yemi Osinbajo over the presidential ticket of the APC.

The duo are rumoured to be keen on contesting for the 2023 presidential election under the platform of the APC.
