As President Bola Tinubu’s second anniversary in office is fast approaching, the Central Results Delivery and Coordination Unit (CDCU) in the presidency has reportedly finalized a comprehensive review of the performances of all ministers appointed by President Bola Tinubu.
It was gathered that the assessment and review, which focus on the first quarter of 2025, aim to gauge the scorecard and accomplishments of each Minister, as Tinubu’s administration reaches its mid-term milestone
The New Diplomat checks reveal that the midterm review and assessment which is being led by the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Policy and Monitoring, Hadiza Bala-Usman, who heads the CDCU, might likely trigger a rejig of the cabinet by Tinubu.
According to findings and reports collated, the Hadiza Usman-led CDCU has been analyzing data and performance scorecards submitted by various ministries for review and assessment.
The assessment, according to reports, is expected to be presented to Tinubu in the coming days for likely decisive action on what to do with ministers who may have failed woefully in terms of performance.
The New Diplomat’s checks reveal that the CDCU’s detailed empirical assessments premised on evident data offer insights into the performances of various ministries, underlying areas that need strategic improvement, areas where accomplishments have been made, and areas where ministries failed woefully.
According to sources, the report shows a comprehensive evaluation of each ministry’s performance, highlighting achievements and areas needing improvement.
In fact, a report by Punch newspaper quoted a source as saying: “Officials of the various ministries have uploaded the reports of their activities and projects on the portal provided by the CDCU. These are based on deliverables that the ministries themselves have set.
“Officials of CDCU have done their detailed verifications and assessments of the uploaded projects. Scores have been assigned based on their findings. The final report on all the ministries is meant for the president.”
Sources further reveal that while it is clear that the assessment might help the President effect far-reaching changes in his cabinet, it is not certain when such a move might be taken by the president.
Recall that in October 2024, Tinubu announced a shake-up of his cabinet, sacking some ministers while others were reassigned to other portfolios accordingly.
Some of those affected then were Uju Kennedy-Ohaneye, who was sacked from her position as the Minister of Women’s Affairs, and Tahir Mamman, who also lost his position as Minister of Education.
Others affected were the Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John, and the Minister of Youth Development, Jamila Bio Ibrahim, who were fired.
Tinubu also sacked the minister of state, housing and urban development, Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo.
The CDCU’s performance data and rating, according to findings, may have been helpful in that ministerial overhaul by President Tinubu.
