President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has concluded a three-day state visit to Brazil, departing the country for Abuja on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.

The New Diplomat reports that the presidential jet took off from Brasília International Airport Air Force Base, with a ceremonial send-off attended by Brazil’s Secretary for Africa and the Middle East, Ambassador Carlos Sérgio Sobral Duarte, and the Brazilian Ambassador to Nigeria, Carlos José Areias Moreno Garcete.

Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and other senior officials were also present.

Recall that Tinubu arrived in Brasília on Monday, August 25, 2025, and was welcomed with full military honors.

His visit, at the invitation of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, was said to have focused on fostering cooperation in key sectors such as trade, agriculture, aviation, energy transition, and regional security.

The two leaders held bilateral discussions, culminating in the signing of five Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) covering aviation, foreign affairs, science and technology, and agriculture—critical pillars of Nigeria’s development agenda.

Also, the Brazil visit followed Tinubu’s participation in the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Yokohama, Japan, from August 20 to 22.

Departing Abuja on August 15 with a stopover in Dubai, Tinubu arrived in Japan on August 18.

There, he held bilateral meetings with Japanese officials and business leaders.
