President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu with heartfelt accolades as the governor marks his 60th birthday.

Tinubu lauded Sanwo-Olu for what he called his commitment to transforming Lagos into a global economic powerhouse, describing him as a “visionary trailblazer” whose leadership inspires millions.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Wednesday, Tinubu described Sanwo-Olu as a dedicated public servant who has stayed true to the vision of transforming Lagos.

“Your execution of this vision is exemplified by landmark achievements, including completing the Blue and Red Rail lines and the ongoing preparations for the Purple Line, which will serve the vital Lekki corridor.

“I urge you to sustain this trajectory by prioritising impactful projects for Lagosians, notably the long-awaited Fourth Mainland Bridge and the Freedom Way to Victoria Garden City (VGC) Road,” Tinubu said.

The President also wished the governor continued good health and many more years of service to Lagos and Nigeria.

The statement highlighted that Sanwo-Olu began his political career under Tinubu’s mentorship and noted that he served in various roles in Lagos State, including Commissioner in multiple ministries and Managing Director of the Lagos State Property Development Corporation.

The New Diplomat reports that this comes weeks after Tinubu formally forgave Sanwo-Olu after months of an acrimonious relationship.

It was gathered that Sanwo-Olu fell out the President following accusations of disloyalty during the 2023 presidential elections.

However, several prominent figures across the country waded into the matter and were able to broker peace between the duo.
